Trump Media Offloads $165M in Bitcoin at Heavy Loss While Launching Paid Truth API
Trump Media has offloaded another 2,628 Bitcoin at a steep loss, bringing total liquidations to over 7,200 coins as paper losses top $550 million. Meanwhile, the firm is monetizing market-moving political posts via a $100,000-per-month institutional API feed. The aggressive push has sparked immediate pushback, with US lawmakers demanding an SEC investigation into potential market distortion.
Trump Media is trimming its crypto balance sheet after dumping another 2,628 Bitcoin worth roughly $165 million into the market. On-chain data confirms the firm bought peak market supply near $118,000 per coin, only to offload nearly two-thirds of its treasury at an average exit price of $74,855. Total realized and unrealized losses now stand at a brutal $555 million.
The remaining treasury balance of roughly 4,260 coins is effectively locked until 2028 under convertible note covenants. To offset mounting net quarterly losses, the media entity launched Truth API, charging institutional trading firms up to $100,000 a month to receive real-time feeds of political posts milliseconds before the general public.
That institutional feed has already drawn intense fire in Washington with key senators calling on the SEC to launch an immediate investigation into market manipulation and ethics violations.
