Wintermute Lands US Broker-Dealer License, Eyes Citadel and Jane Street

Crypto market maker Wintermute USA has secured an SEC broker-dealer registration and FINRA membership. The move enables the firm to clear ETF creation and redemption rails, positioning it to directly challenge Wall Street titans like Citadel and Jane Street. Tokenized equities and commodity ETFs are next on the firm's expansion roadmap.

Crypto market maker Wintermute USA just secured its SEC broker-dealer license and FINRA membership, formally bridging the gap between digital assets and traditional financial infrastructure. Up until now, flagship products like spot Bitcoin ETFs relied strictly on TradFi giants like Jane Street and Citadel for market making and authorized participant operations. Now, Wintermute has secured entry to compete on that exact floor.

CEO Evgeny Gaevoy has laid out an ambitious three-to-five-year blueprint to rival Wall Street heavyweights. The immediate target is market making for commodities and crypto ETFs, followed by tokenized stock trading as regulatory approvals clear.

Institutional flow already accounts for over seventy percent of Wintermute's over-the-counter volume, making this regulatory clearance a vital step. While landing a license is only the first hurdle before gaining exchange-designated status, Wintermute is officially inside Wall Street's inner circle ready to reshape market liquidity.
